sixlet it be

If you ever get a chance to try a Sixlet, I suggest you do it.  I may be giving a biased suggestion as my fondness for them has resulted in both eating one off the grocery store floor and tasting from a package that was almost surely over ten years old.  What we do for love...

When I saw a box (!) of Sixlets in my supermarket there was no way I could just walk away...so I bought them and baked them into cookies.

You could put some oatmeal and raisins in there too.  I did.

Turns out they melt quite a bit in the oven, but no harm done.

Eat a Sixlet cookie if you get a chance, just maybe not off your grocer's floor.

do what you ricotta do

When you essentially grow up on a university campus, you learn that lemonade stands are extremely profitable when there are masses of parents and moving students around.

Then you grow up and moving students just means you might find a free IKEA side table on the street.

Even so, summer still means lemon to me and in this iteration--lemon ricotta cookies.

With icing...gotta keep it cool.

And the cycle continues: sidewalk table + lemon creation, a timeless combination.

ceReal World: Breakfast Table

Nobody can say no to the chocolate covered O's in chocolate covered cheerios.

...especially when they're baked into the breakfast appropriate cookie base of whole wheat oatmeal raisin.

There's nothing wrong with a spoonful of cookie.

Makes the medicine go down, no?

Today is Oreo's 100th birthday!
And it's been a loooong day
I say it's about time to wrap things up [in chocolate chips].

Happy Oreo Centennial!

cake your pick

What do you get when you put Valentine's candy, coffee, measuring cups, almond milk, and an iPad together?
That would be my recent baking venture--peanut butter cup cake cookies.
Something cakey, something sweet, something vegan, something whole wheat.
You should put a Reese's on top--or maybe hide the peanut butter in the center. It's the surprise party of cookies.
Go ahead, cake your day.

I'm always in for a party and a good themed dessert. Also, funfetti.

Always funfetti.

Funfetti geared up for Super Bowl Sunday.

the tart of a beautiful friendship

Sometimes you make lemon curd and then it is all you can think about. Your friends have probably heard more about this lemon curd than you realized you could share.

Also, you may love Pop-Tarts but that doesn't come up as much.

Eventually, there will come a time when your friends meet your current infatuation. It should probably include some pastry.

And, if you like it then you should put a sprinkle on it.

some kind of sugar and spice

Here's a fact about giving people cookies, they often respond with 'Ooooh, what kind are they?'. And in this case I legitimately didn't know.

I used a recipe for brown sugar cookies, but I didn't have brown sugar...then I added super dark chocolate to half of them.

Since these cookies are heavy on the cinnamon, I billed them as cinnamon [chocolate chip] cookies. Then the cookie receivers respond 'Ooooh, cinnamon.' And everything in the world seems right.
